My name is Kaleema I am a Yoga Instructor. My passion is to express myself in a creative way to get closer and thrive in authenticity so that I can help others do the same in their own unique way. I want to cultivate healing into our daily lives. I am certified 250 hours Classical Vinyasa RYT, 200 hours Honest Yoga RYT, 90 hours Prenatal Yoga training RYT, and 90 hours Children’s Yoga RYT. I recently completed a 12 hour Restorative Yoga internship at Give Yoga. My first Yoga class was Hatha Yoga, I now incorporate a mix of Vinyasa, Kemetic, and Yoni Yoga and Breathing into my personal practice. I have a background in intensive dance classical ballet, point, jazz, hip-hop, breakdance, African dance, and belly dance. I was brought up with art, music, and movement in my daily life so I feel most comfortable expressing myself through these forms.
I hope to share with you a creative movement used as a healing tool. My yoga class is a flowing sequence Vinyasa based class, linking the breath with the movement. It consists of a steady paced flow that is vigorous yet relaxing at times. There is a mix of easy, medium, to challenging poses. I like to give plenty of options for modifications for an all levels class. Connecting the mind, body, and soul lifts our energy to a higher vibration so lets rise naturally through yoga!
There was always something holding me back from taking Yoga training in the beginning. First I got pregnant, then I was in my training and I got hit by a tow truck on my bike, this left me with continuous ailments in my body so I took the training all over again. I had to learn to be patient with my body, as it does not always do what my mind wants it to so I’ve had to learn modifications that best suit my practice. In this I have learned to honor the present moment by accepting where I am at in each moment. That is why I love Yoga. It is accessible for everyone if we are open to the concept. I like to teach the path of the 8 limbs of Yoga, as Yoga is always so much more than just the physical posture. In the ancient scriptures of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras creates guidelines to a purposeful life etching the way through moral and ethical code with self-discipline. 1) Yamas- how we treat others. 2) Niyamas- how we treat ourselves. 3) Asana- the physical practice. 4) Pranayam- breathing techniques. 5) Pratyahara- withdrawal of the senses. 6) Dharana- concentration. 7)Dhyana- meditation. 8) Samadhi- ecstasy or the ultimate state of being. This is just a snippet of what you may experience in my class or session so come do Yoga and get free with me!
